The Psychology staff is fantastic, helpful, and incredibly knowledgeable

Study in Swansea

WHAT DID YOU DO PRIOR TO STUDYING AT SWANSEA UNIVERSITY?

I studied for my undergraduate degree in Minnesota USA, took a year to work, then moved to Wales.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO STUDY AT SWANSEA UNIVERSITY?

I studied abroad at Swansea University for a semester during my undergrad because it had a module I was really interested in and loved the school and Psychology program, so I decided to come back.

CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR COURSE?

It is a year-long course, September to September, with two semesters of modules and a summer of a dissertation. I had eleven modules, a placement at Morriston Hospital, and a research dissertation with a well-known professor in an area I’m very interested in.

WHAT PART OF THE COURSE DO YOU/DID YOU ENJOY THE MOST?

Definitely the placement. It is invaluable experience in the field I’m interested in which not only allows me to develop my clinical identity but also increases my employability and future prospects of working in the field.

WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS/HOPES FOR THE FUTURE?

I would like to work as an assistant psychologist for a year before applying for a clinical doctorate program.

WOULD YOU RECOMMEND SWANSEA UNIVERSITY TO OTHER STUDENTS?

Absolutely. The Psychology staff is fantastic, helpful, and incredibly knowledgeable. They will help wherever they can. The modules are interesting and the opportunity to get a placement and work with renowned research professors is invaluable.

The best experience of my life

Study in Swansea

Studying at Swansea is perhaps the luckiest thing to ever happen to me. I happened to meet two representatives from Across the Pond in high school, and before I knew it, I was on a plane to the UK. The British system was incredibly beneficial and changed my entire outlook on education in America. At Swansea, I was able to focus directly on studies that I was passionate about from the get-go, instead of having to wait while taking broader courses that I'd already done in high school. The quality of experience helps you grow as a student and as a person; it broadens your horizons, your worldview, and your opportunities. From the classroom to Welsh culture, it was by far the best experience of my life.
