Northeastern University London’s unique programmes offer students the flexibility to create their own degree. Personalised elective pathways enable students to deepen their focus of their main degree subject or branch out into other topics that complement and develop thinking across disciplinary boundaries.

NU London prides itself on creating a community, making every student feel valued and part of something bigger. Class and lecture sizes are relatively small, meaning students get the opportunity to participate and gain regular feedback from their tutors.

Do you want to study at Northeastern University in Boston, USA? As part of Northeastern University’s global network, NU London offers students the opportunity to study at one of their campuses in Boston or Oakland for a semester in the second year of study. In addition, NU London also gives students the unique and exciting option to study for two globally recognised degrees simultaneously, a UK degree awarded by Northeastern University London, and a US degree awarded by Northeastern University (Boston, MA).

Northeastern University London first opened its doors to students in 2012. Founded by A C Grayling and originally called New College of the Humanities, NU London only offered courses in humanities subjects. It was originally located in Bedford Square in Bloomsbury.

It was given Taught Degree Awarding Powers in 2019, allowing it to offer degrees and expand its portfolio outside of the humanities. Since its expansion, NU London has moved into Devon House in St Katharine Docks to offer students much more space and enhanced facilities.

Northeastern University London was awarded university status and subsequently changed its name in 2022.

Whilst it has always championed a liberal arts style in its teaching, NU London’s degree programmes have changed over the years to reflect the best offering for students. Originally the format was a major/minor system, however they have since developed this to offer single degrees as well as joint honours degrees that allow students to choose elective pathways in other subject areas and a large degree of flexibility.

NU London’s degrees have interdisciplinary at their core. With flexible elective choices, students can decide what subjects they want to cover in their degree, giving them the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge in a number of topics that complement their main subject area.

Northeastern University London has also developed a reputation for delivering outstanding higher education experience, exceeding all Russell Group universities for overall student satisfaction in the UK’s National Student Survey for four consecutive years (2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022).

NU London’s campus is located in the beautiful waterside setting of St Katharine Docks. There are a myriad of restaurants and pubs in the local area. The campus is also a few minutes’ walk from the iconic sights of the Tower of London and Tower Bridge.

Situated in the UK’s largest city, NU London has everything on its doorstep. With the tube less than a 10-minute walk from campus, students are well placed to explore all that London has to offer.
