About Keele
Keele University was established in 1949 by the former Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University. Founded to meet the needs of a changing world, Keele has always had a pioneering vision to be a different kind of university. We excel in both teaching and research, with some of the most satisfied students in England, and research that is changing lives for the better at a regional, national and global level.
Our beautiful 600-acre campus is one of the biggest in Britain – but all the most important services and facilities are on your doorstep, with accommodation, teaching spaces, facilities including a medical centre, sports centre and pharmacy, and a range of shops, eateries and entertainment venues – including the Students’ Union – clustered around the centre.
Where is Keele?
Located in the Staffordshire countryside, but within easy reach of the bustling town of Newcastle-under-Lyme, and the vibrant city of Stoke-on-Trent, Keele offers the best of both worlds: a close-knit campus community and an exciting local area to explore. Discover a variety of restaurants, cafes, bars, shops and entertainment venues all on your doorstep. Jump on the train and we’re less than an hour away from the bright lights of both Manchester and Birmingham too.

We offer a broad range of subject areas, and we’re known for our history of interdisciplinary teaching and learning. Most of our courses include the option to choose exciting routes of elective study called Global Challenge Pathways. These allow you to explore current debates in areas such as Sustainability, Social Justice, Global Health, Digital Futures and Enterprise, to complement your chosen subject. Not to mention the learn a language, study abroad and placement opportunities available on many of our courses.

Sector leaders in sustainability
We’re proud to be one of the first UK universities to declare a ‘climate emergency’, as well as having ambitious targets to be carbon neutral by 2030.
In 2021 we were named Global Sustainability Institution of the Year, and also completed the installation of 12,500 solar panels and two wind turbines on campus, to generate up to half of our electricity requirements.

DO YOU WANT TO KNOW MORE?
The information on this page has been submitted by the higher education institution itself, and it varies how frequently they update it. If you want to know more, get in touch and one of our student advisors will answer all your questions!
Across the Pond is the official representative for this teaching institution for selected countries around the world which means we can help you apply to their courses and help with all the documents needed to submit an application. We can help answer questions about their courses and the institution itself as they do not necessarily have the capacity to deal with student enquiries from all around the world on a daily basis. This also means that they can ask us questions about your application and we can help explain if they are not familiar with your grades, academic background or the educational system in your home country. They also appreciate that students who apply through Across the Pond get the help they need, not only in terms of submitting the application and supporting documents, but also with everything needed before arrival in the UK, such as student accommodation, visa information, funding information and well as preparing for departure to the UK.
