The University of Nottingham

Nottingham has over 43,000 students from more than 150 countries and an impressive history that spans 125 years. You can choose between over 360 bachelor's courses and 380 master's courses.

The university has five campuses. The main campus, University Park, is known as one of the most attractive campuses in the UK. The campus is located approx. 3 miles from Nottingham city centre and includes the university's' Students' Union ', state-of-the-art art facilities, 12 student housing buildings, sports facilities and several award-winning buildings. The university is spread over several campuses, each housing its own faculties and respective fields: Sutton Bonington Campus (School of Biosciences and School of Veterinary Medicine and Science), Jubilee Campus (School of Education and Contemporary Chinese Studies, in addition to the university's Business School ), The Medical School (adjacent to University Park and part of The Queen´s Medical Center), and King´s Meadow Campus (which houses the university's Manuscripts and Special Collections).

In addition to an outstanding academic reputation, Nottingham is also known for great success in sports and top sports. The University of Nottingham has over 70 sports clubs, with teams consistently among the top ten in the UK University League. To continue the university's success in sports, there are separate sports scholarships to help outstanding athletes with additional costs that come from participating in high-level sports during their time at Nottingham.
 

Specialist areas

The University of Nottingham's specialties include "Engineering" (ranked number 7 in the UK two years in a row), "Sustainable Energy", "Medicine and Clinical Sciences" (Nottingham is one of only 4 universities in the UK that can offer full body dissection), " Biosciences "(Nottingham was ranked No. 1 in the UK in recent Times and Sunday Times University Guides) and" Computer Science "(ranked among the top 10 in the UK in the recent Research Excellence Framework). Since 2003, the university's academics have won Nobel Prizes in their fields.
 

Facilities

The university offers an impressive range of sports facilities, including modern sports and fitness centres on all three main campuses. The sports centre on the University Park Campus currently houses three large sports halls, with 12 badminton courts, 7 squash courts, practice rooms for martial arts, table tennis, a pool table and its own bar. In addition, there is the brand new David Ross Sports Village.

The university's extensive library facilities contain more than one million books and collections of articles, in addition to four million manuscripts and several thousand digital articles and books. The Hallward library on the University Park Campus is also open 24 hours a day, and all libraries have extended opening hours during exam periods.
 

Student Accommodation

The University of Nottingham offers both "catered" (including food) and "self-catered" (cooking yourself) student housing to its students. The university has eight self-catered housing complexes: Alboin House (for undergraduate students), Broadgate Park, Raleigh Park and St. Peter's Court (for both undergraduate and postgraduate students), Melton Hall and Cloister House (for postgraduate students), Bonington Hall (at Sutton Bonington Campus, for undergraduate and postgraduate students) and Lonsdale Hall in Derby. You can choose to live on campus during your studies, but you can also choose to live privately, off campus. There are frequent bus routes between University Park and Jubilee, as well as between University Park and the Sutton Bonington campus.
 

The city of Nottingham

Nottingham city is located approx. 50 kilometers south of Sheffield and approx. 2 hours by train north of London. Nottingham is a culturally diverse and vibrant city that is ideally suited for students. Visitors and locals alike will find that there is plenty to see and do in and around Nottingham: history, culture, countryside and parks, sports, shopping, food, local events and a varied nightlife. You will find a number of famous shops and good shopping centres in the city centre, as well as a wide selection of restaurants, pubs and cafes. Nottingham also has a rich and flourishing art scene, which includes visual arts, music, theatre, cinema, literature and a wide range of entertainment.
