Why did you decide to study in the UK?

After graduating from Warwick I moved to Puebla, Mexico, where I taught English as a Foreign language for 2 years at the Benemerita Universidad Autonoma de Puebla. Subsequently I was offered a job in the International Office of the same university working on developing exchange opportunities for the local students. This paved the way to a job as an International Officer at Lancaster University where I was lucky enough to work with students and representatives in places as diverse as Russia, India, Pakistan, Nigeria and Ghana. It was during this time that I met and became aware of Across the Pond ultimately taking on my first role in 2007.

UK universities offer a unique experience internationally in a number of ways, and that’s why I feel passionately about the value of promoting them and giving as many people as possible an opportunity to access them. The main attractions are the truly diverse and multicultural environment that they offer with consistently 100+ nationalities represented, the personal academic and learning experience without the hierarchies of many education systems and the highly active student body that allows students to be involved with pretty much any type of activity that could possibly interest them.

Why do you like working for Across the Pond?

Across the Pond has offered and continues to offer me the chance to do what I love, and that is encouraging as many people as possible to do everything they can to get an international educational and cultural experience. The great thing about Across the Pond is that it has always prided itself on the quality of service provided, the professionalism of the staff and the desire to go above and beyond to get every student the best chance to attend the place, and take the course, that is just right for them. This kind of work is not only life changing, it is world changing. If only there was a way to get everyone this kind of opportunity, then the empathy, understanding and adaptability generated would but humankind in a much stronger and healthier position. As it is, adding our grain of sand sure feels good.
