Whether you’re looking to visit soon, or even study in the capital of England as part of your current university degree, London is an amazing place to go.

It’s been voted the world’s greatest city because of its history, attractions, museums and stunning architecture – but what are the most amazing London experiences every American student should do?

Here’s 5 experiences you must complete…

1 – Visit the Queen

Buckingham Palace

OK, you won’t be able to meet her face-to-face but you can still snoop at her house! London is home to her official residency, Buckingham Palace, which has 775 rooms and a price tag of over £1billion!

2 – Take High tea

Victoria Sponge

AKA ‘Afternoon tea’, spend your afternoon feeling posh as you munch your way through delicate sandwich fingers and the best cakes known to man. Wash it all down with some perfectly brewed English tea, and hey presto, you’ve been transformed into a Brit!

3 – Visit a real pub

P81000541-A local pub

Pubs are a British institution. They provide the people with a meeting place, a place to chat, a place to watch soccer (or football as the Brits call it!), a place to go on a date – and even a place to do a quiz. Head towards the oldest pub you can find – these quirky little places will give you a true taste of British culture.

4 – Selfie in a red phone box

Telephone Box Soho Square

The red phone box is a visual sign of the UK that is known throughout the world. Due to mobile phones, the demand for the phone boxes are in decline, so get a selfie whilst they’re still around!

5 – Stand on Platform 9¾

Platform 9 3/4

Calling all Harry Potter fans! Make your way to King’s Cross Railway Station and witness that wall from the movies. Yes it exists, but no we can’t guarantee you’ll get through to the other side! Attempts to run through the wall will end in a sore head – you’ve been warned!
