More than 7 million people live in London, and over 350, 000 of them are students, many from overseas.  With approximately 25,000 students, Middlesex is one of the UK's largest Universities. Our campuses are spread over North London, and of all the areas of London, the North is home to the greatest number of different nationalities. This gives the area a truly international feel and provides opportunities to experience different cultures that you will not find anywhere else in the UK. This makes Middlesex one of the most multinational universities in the country, with a fifth of our students coming from outside the UK and 130 different countries represented.

The history of Middlesex University began in the late 1880s, when two educational institutions opened their doors in north London - St Katherine's College and the Hornsey School of Arts and Crafts. Both would become part of Middlesex Polytechnic, which was founded in 1973. Middlesex was awarded the title 'University' - by Royal Assent - in 1992.

Middlesex is comprised of five main London campuses and one campus in Dubai. Each of our London campuses has a unique atmosphere and is focused on teaching in a specific subject area; Archway is the base for healthcare, nursing and midwifery, along with clinical practice at the hospitals.

The Cat Hill campus is our specialist centre for art and design, and is one of the most creative campuses within the University. Cat Hill's stylish, low-level buildings are home to a wide range of programs with well-established reputations, and our extensive range of facilities and innovative teaching continues to shape developments in art and design.  There is a real buzz at the Cat Hill campus as students pin together their latest designs in the fashion studios, print textiles, paint, sculpt, film, or illustrate architectural designs. The Museum of Domestic Design and Architecture (MoDA) is based at the School's Cat Hill campus. It is used by students, staff and professionals to research domestic design, architectual design and social history, and spatial culture.

The third campus is Enfield where the social science subjects are taught, however these faculties are soon to move to the Hendon campus in 2008. Hendon houses the business school and computing courses and a £60m refurbishment continues with new specialist laboratories (for psychology, biomedical and computing sciences) and two large lecture theatres due in 2008.

The Trent Park campus is set amongst a picturesque landscape of lakes, forests and country walks. Its tranquility belies the fact that central London can be accessed in just 40 minutes via Oakwood station on the Piccadilly line. Trent park is a vibrant, lively and inspiring place to study and is home for subjects such as performing arts, humanities, product design, TV production and teacher education. The mansion building, which dominates the site is part of a mix of modern and period buildings.

Middlesex’s alumni include; Actors Dame Helen Mirren (starred in the film The Queen), Zoe Wanamaker (starred in the Harry Potter films) and fashion designer Vivienne Westwood.
